Dedicated Bariatric Services
Georgetown Community Hospital is fully equipped with specialized equipment that typical patient care facilities do not have, such as appropriately sized gowns, larger shower stalls, size-friendly beds and furniture throughout the facility. Patients who have weight loss surgery can rest assured that we are a hospital that specializes in weight loss surgery. We have medical, surgical and integrated health staff specifically trained to meet the special needs of our bariatric patients. Our patients will frequently find that they receive supportive continuity of care as our nursing leadership and Certified Bariatric Nurses have many opportunities to interact with our patients both before, during and after surgery.
In addition to the wonderful providers you'll meet on your way through our preparation program, you may have opportunity to meet Kelly Reese, RN; Melanie Morgan, RN, CBN; and Kathy Leigh, RN, CBN. Kelly is the Director of Surgical Services and would be happy to answer any questions you have about the OR Team. Melanie provides pre and post-surgical education and support in the Bariatric Center and nursing care on the inpatient units; Kathy is the Director of ICU & BCU and will make sure that your inpatient stay will be pleasant and comfortable.
