It's been almost a year since Carol Amos got her Gastric Sleeve. Life has definitely changed in that year.
Before surgery, I weighed 397 pounds and my health was not in a good place. It was hard to sleep. I had NO energy and found it difficult to walk. I wasn't actually "sick", but I was well on my way. I couldn't do anything with my son and I was beginning to have a lot of swelling in my feet and body.
I was 37 years old, with two sons; one in middle school and one in the Air Force. I decided that I wanted to see how far in life my sons would go, and if I didn't get healthier, that might not happen, so I sought out Georgetown Bariatrics.
Now, I'm just full of love. I love my surgeon. He was very nice and direct. My surgery went smoothly and I didn't have any complications. Recovery was great, too. My experience with the nurses was the BEST!
I love my sleeve! I've lost 136 pounds in less than a year. Now I can walk 3 miles a day. I can do Zumba and I can even swim! I jumped off the diving board and that was an awesome feeling.
I would have to say that getting my gastric sleeve was the best decision I've ever made - other than having my children, of course. I wouldn't choose any other surgeon or any other pre-op program. My experience was simply incredible.
If my story inspires you to have weight loss surgery, here's some advice:
- Start slowly with exercise.
- Do what your surgeon and other healthcare team says.
- Don't buy a lot of clothes! You'll shrink out of them before you wear them!
I am so happy now! I haven't been this size since 1999!
