Lisa West-Smith, PhD, LCSW

Lisa West-Smith, PhD, LCSW brings over 23 years of clinical practice, academic and leadership experience to the Bariatric Center team. Trained in psychology and psychiatric social work, Dr. West-Smith has specialized in the treatment of obesity and eating disorders in hospital, private practice and academic settings since 1989. She holds a BA in Psychology from Northern Kentucky University, an MSW from University of Kentucky, an interdisciplinary PhD in Clinical Social Work & Women’s Studies from Union Institute & University, and licensure at the highest level for the independent practice of clinical social work in both Ohio and Kentucky.

Joann Powell, MSHRL

|
Joann has been active in helping patients reach their weight loss surgery goals since 2003 and has been with Life Point facilities for over 20 years. Her enthusiasm for patient’s health issues quickly propelled her from her starting position as a part-time receptionist to her current position as Education and Outreach Coordinator, where she visits physician offices on a regular basis to educate them about the wonderful program at Georgetown Bariatrics. She is also involved with the “behind-the-scenes” operation of our program, and helps with the patient education process by presenting seminars and support groups, such as her popular Cooking Demonstrations.
She recently completed her Master of Science in Human Resources Leadership and spends much of her time pursuing her greatest passions: growing and preserving her own farm-fresh foods and learning new ways to prepare healthy and filling dishes.

| Cindy Caywood, MS, RD. LD Bariatric Dietitian |

Cindy Caywood holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics and a Master of Science degree in Community Nutrition, both from Eastern Kentucky University. She is a state-Licensed Dietitian and and American Dietetic Society Association Registered Dietitian. Cindy has over 14 years of experience helping people to achieve their weight management goals through positive lifestyle changes.
She has a very relaxed, non-judgmental demeanor and focuses on helping patients to identify their personal strengths in order to make nutritional changes based on their individual goals and needs. if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Cindy.

Tina Peace, CPT, SRNA
Tina has been with our program for five years and currently extracts data for the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). Tina is also a successful weight loss surgery patient herself. |

Melanie Morgan, RN
|
|
|
Melanie works in both the Intensive Care Unit and the Bariatric Center at Georgetown Community Hospital. She and her husband have lived here in Scott County for 24 years and have raised three children. |

Jennifer Morris |

| Jennifer is the Lead Insurance Coordinator. She’s been with our program since 2005, bringing 30 years of healthcare experience to Georgetown Bariatrics. She enjoys guiding patients through the many steps required in the preoperative process, and is a strong advocate for our patients. | Darla Schreiber holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Xavier University. Darla has over 20 years of professional customer service experience with over 5 years of business management experience. As the initial point of contact when you arrive at Georgetown Bariatrics, Darla will put you at ease with her exceptional organization, efficiency and warm demeanor as she guides you through the bariatric process. Carrie Jo Strong |

Carrie Jo is the newest addition to our team. She has been a GCH team member for 9 years and is very knowledgeable in most areas of the hospital. She is very eager to learn more about bariatrics and exert her skills in patient satisfaction and customer service while at the front Reception Desk assisting all of her co-workers. She is excited to help each and every patient to the best of her abilities.

Kathy Leigh, RN, CBN |

Kathy is the Director for both the Intensive Care Unit and the inpatient Bariatric Unit at Georgetown Community Hospital. She is married and has 2 children. Her education includes graduation from Midway College, School of Nursing where she obtained an ADN/RN. Kathy has worked in multiple critical care areas. She was privileged to be a Hospice nurse for 6 years and obtained board certification as Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse. Last year, she tested for and passed the board certification for Bariatric Nursing. She has worked in Georgetown Community Hospital’s Intensive Care and Bariatric inpatient units for over 4 years. She has been the coordinator in those units for the last 2 years. She holds a certification for Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS). |

Kelly Reese, RN, BSN, CNOR

Kelly Reese is the Director of Surgical Services at Georgetown Community Hospital. Kelly has over 17 years of nursing experience. Kelly has worked at GCH since 2005 and was promoted to Director of Surgery in 2011. She holds a Certification as a Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR), and is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and became a BLS Instructor this year.
